Soap Box Derby
Every year the town of Brevard has a festivial. The White Squirrel Festivial is held on main street, during the Memorial day weekend. Three years ago the festivial started holding a soap box derby race down jailhouse hill called the Squirrel Box Derby. Mike Krauter and his family built and race soap box cars in this event. Mike has also mentored two high school students with thier senior projects. One student built a soap box derby car that made front page of the Transylvania Times, and won nuttiest design in this years Squirrel Box Derby. The other student built a play house for her younger sister.
